Helen lives in Hertfordshire with her daughter and her two dogs. She originally trained as a ceramicist in Farnham Surrey, but as an artist has never restricted herself to just this one area . Helen has worked in a variety of mediums , resulting in designing jewellery, working as a textile artist, and painting and drawing.

The artist explores her love of nature in her art taking inspiration from the world around her. As a keen photographer capturing those images is important for when she returns to her studio. Helen contemplates the myriad colours in nature, their depth and variety and how they make her feel in that moment. Helen aims to capture that feeling and to bring the joy of the vivid colours found in nature to her compositions.

Helen mixes her own colours before she starts a new piece so she can bring the unique colours of nature to her art. This helps her create both the harmonious blends and the dramatic juxtaposition of bold colours that characterise her compositions celebrating the simple beauty of nature.
